German biathlete Anna Weidel: “Without the Olympics ahead, I probably would have retired”

German biathlete Anna Weidel spoke on the sidelines of the Loop One Festival in Munich about her upcoming season and long‑term goals. She explained that the prospect of another Olympic Games plays a decisive role in her motivation to keep competing.
Weidel admitted that without the Olympics as a target, she would “pretty surely” have ended her career already. She also touched on her objectives for the winter and the build‑up events leading into the top international races.
The interview took place during the Loop One Festival at Munich’s Olympic Park, a preseason biathlon showcase featuring athletes, fan activities, and media appearances.
