Norway’s Vetle Sjåstad Christiansen delivered a perfect day on the range and won the men’s 10 km sprint in Annecy. Several athletes reported tough, slow snow conditions, and Christiansen, clearly exhausted on the finish line, said he had to give everything on the final loop.
He edged compatriot Johannes Dale‑Skjevdal by 3.5 seconds despite Dale‑Skjevdal incurring two penalties. “He probably expected to pass me on the last lap with the speed he had, but the ox woke up,” Christiansen told SVT Sport. “I was completely empty. I dug deeper than I have in many, many years.”
Sweden’s best finisher was Sebastian Samuelsson in sixth place, 8.8 seconds behind Christiansen, despite two misses. The result comes amid intense competition within the Norwegian team for Olympic selection after Christiansen was left off Norway’s 2025 World Championship squad. He emphasized that wins like this strengthen his case for a 2026 Olympic berth.
The race took place in Annecy (Le Grand-Bornand) and was part of the international biathlon circuit.
