Biathlon Star Speaks Out: "I Can No Longer Bear It"

Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold has had a tough biathlon season filled with challenges. Recently, she criticized the media's approach to her personal struggles, stating that it feels as though they prioritize sensational stories over her well-being.

In a podcast conversation, Tandrevold reflected on a particularly painful moment when her mother overcame multiple barriers just to embrace her after a disappointing race. "The media said: ‘Give us an interview about how terrible it is to be Ingrid's mother.’ I would rather boycott them than go through that again," she shared.

Though she did not ultimately choose to boycott the media, she admitted feeling compelled to give dull responses in interviews. "I can't bear it anymore," she emphasized.

This past season, the Norwegian biathlete faced several hurdles, including undergoing heart surgery, which caused her to miss many competitions. Nevertheless, she made a comeback, helping her team secure a silver medal in the women's relay at the Biathlon World Championships. However, the pressure from the media mounted, especially after a mixed relay where she faced criticism for multiple penalty laps, prompting her to share some of the hateful messages she received online.
