Biathlon Talent Explains Transition: "I'm Disappointed"

Coralie Langel, a French biathlon talent, announced at the end of March that she will now compete for Switzerland instead of France. At 23 years old, she shared the experiences that led to her decision and expressed her disappointment about the situation.

In January, after winning two weekends in a row at the Coupe de France, Coralie Langel was not selected for the IBU Cup, which left her feeling sad. She described the decisions of the French federation as increasingly perplexing.

She clarified that she is not at odds with France, stating, "I am just disappointed over certain decisions. It is how I feel as an athlete, and I am not always objective." Langel is looking forward to her new journey in Switzerland, where she will train with several World Cup stars.

She mentioned that coaches from the A-Team indicated she would be training with a mixed group of five men and five women, including big names like Lena Häcki-Gross and Amy Baserga.

Coralie emphasized her eagerness to work alongside these established athletes and acknowledged the need to work smartly since it's been a while since she competed internationally.

End of the last season marked her first successes after attempting to organize her training independently following a serious illness during the previous winter, which severely affected her competitive standing. Her aim was to secure a spot on the French A-National team, but despite her achievements, this goal remained out of reach, ultimately leading to her decision to switch national teams.
