Biathlon: New romance buzz in Sweden as Elvira Öberg goes public with Oskar Brandt

Swedish biathlete Elvira Öberg has announced a new relationship with Oskar Brandt, a former biathlete who now works as a coach within the Swedish biathlon federation.

Öberg shared a photo of the couple on social media, writing that after a period disrupted by illness, it feels especially good to have first‑class support at home, and that she is taking the chance to enjoy the Swedish autumn.

According to the Swedish newspaper Expressen, the pair have been together since the start of the year but decided only now to make their relationship public.

Öberg previously confirmed in 2024 that she had separated from her long‑time partner Axel Frost. Brandt, 30, remains involved in the sport through his coaching role.

The story also references earlier high‑profile relationships within Sweden’s biathlon team. Since 2021, Elvira’s sister, Olympic champion Hanna Öberg, has been in a relationship with teammate Martin Ponsiluoma. That earlier period drew extra attention because Hanna’s former partner Jesper Nelin later dated Fanny Johansson, who had previously been with Ponsiluoma.
