After ten years, Marion Wiesensarter has announced her retirement from biathlon. She shared the news on Instagram, expressing her mixed emotions about stepping away from competitive sports. "After years filled with sweat, snow, and emotions, it’s time for me to say goodbye to professional biathlon," she stated.
Wiesensarter had notable success during her career, including multiple podium finishes at German championships and even making her mark in the IBU Cup and World Cup events. Last season, she impressed fans with an 11th place finish in the individual event at Antholz.
Top athlete Franziska Preuß responded to Wiesensarter's retirement, congratulating her on a successful career and wishing her well in her new role as a fan and supporter of biathlon. "Congratulations on your career, Marion; your heart was always in the right place," Preuß commented on her post.
The sports community will miss Wiesensarter’s competitive spirit, but she promises to remain involved in the biathlon world through fan support and volunteer contributions at events.
