Whistleblower Grigory Rodchenkov to Testify Against Besseberg
Recently convicted Anders Besseberg, the former president of the International Biathlon Union, is appealing his sentence of three years and one month in prison for gross corruption related to the Russian doping scandal.
The witness list for the appeals court in Borgarting includes 24 individuals, including current IBU president Olle Dahlin and Grigory Rodchenkov, who will testify remotely from a secret location in the USA. Rodchenkov's revelations were crucial in uncovering the Russian doping scheme surrounding the 2014 Sochi Olympics.
Besseberg was accused of accepting gifts from Russia, including expensive watches, prostitutes, and hunting trips. Despite his claims of innocence, he was convicted. The hearing is expected to last until May 20, 2025, and the IBU has issued a lifetime ban against Besseberg.
