Nineteen‑year‑old Swedish‑Norwegian biathlete Philip Lindkvist Flötten earned his first career IBU Cup podium on Friday, finishing third in the men’s sprint.
Flötten, who was born and raised in Norway but holds Swedish citizenship and is representing Sweden this season, delivered perfect shooting. He left the range in Lenzerheide sixth after a clean prone, then added another clean standing stage and ultimately crossed the line 17 seconds behind Norway’s Sverre Dahlen Aspenes. He also clocked the second‑fastest time on the final lap.
“It was better than I hoped for. I haven’t shot ten out of ten many times before—crazy,” he said after the race.
In the women’s sprint, Sweden’s Johanna Skottheim finished fifth, incurring one penalty in each shooting stage.
The results highlight a breakthrough for Flötten early in his international career and a strong Swedish presence in Lenzerheide at the IBU Cup level.
