Biathlon: Sebastian Samuelsson’s jab at Norway: “It’s going to be a really tough season for them”

Swedish biathlete Sebastian Samuelsson believes Norway will have a difficult winter following the retirements of both Johannes Thingnes Bø and Tarjei Bø.
“I think it’s going to be really tough for them. I’m looking forward to a season without so many Norwegian victories,” Samuelsson said with a wry smile.
Johannes Thingnes Bø, long regarded as the world’s best biathlete, ended his career after last season. His brother Tarjei made the same decision. According to Samuelsson, the absence of the dominant brothers will likely translate to fewer Norwegian wins in the upcoming World Cup campaign and shift dynamics inside the Norwegian team, putting added pressure on those who remain.
Martin Ponsiluoma echoed that view, noting that Johannes has carried much of the spotlight for years, allowing others to “fly under the radar.” With the Bø brothers gone, he expects greater expectations and more eyes on Norway’s remaining athletes.
