Biathlon: Sumann's Preferred Candidate Appointed New Head Coach
Christoph Sumann, the new sports director of Austria's biathletes, has successfully convinced Ludwig Gredler, his preferred candidate, to take on the responsibilities of head coach for the men's team.
Ludwig Gredler, a 57-year-old from Tyrol, who previously served as a co-coach, has a successful history as an elite athlete with six World Cup wins and two World Championship medals. He will now step up to a more prominent role alongside his co-trainer, Bavarian Markus Fischer. The top group will consist of six athletes: Simon Eder (whose future is still uncertain), Fredrik Mühlbacher, Fabian Müllauer, David Komatz, Magnus Oberhauser, and Patrick Jakob.
Felix Leitner will not be part of the team’s roster, opting to train outside of ÖSV as he did last season.
Reinhard Gösweiner Continues as Women’s Head Coach
Reinhard Gösweiner will remain head coach for the women’s team, supported by co-trainer Alexander Jakob. However, their squad will be reduced to six female athletes: Anna Gandler, Anna Andexer, Anna Juppe, Lea Rothschopf, Tamara Steiner, and Lara Wagner, with Lisa Hauser continuing to train with her private coach Sandra Flunger.
