Unique footage: Stina Nilsson tries biathlon for the first time
Originally published in SVT Sport on December 09, 2025
SVT Sport presents previously unseen footage, featured in the new season of the talk show Kallprat, showing Stina Nilsson’s very first attempt at biathlon—well before her public switch from cross‑country skiing in March 2020.
In the clip, recorded at Östersund’s ski stadium, Nilsson lies prone on the range and jokes that the experience was “terrible,” laughing at herself: “You could see how skilled I was.” The video predates SVT’s 22 March 2020 revelation that she would change sport and begin a biathlon career.
Nilsson explains that she devoted four years to biathlon and is grateful for the experience. She highlights that she would have regretted not trying and proudly notes that she managed to reach a World Cup podium during her time in the sport. In April 2024, she decided to switch again—this time to long‑distance cross‑country skiing—joining the Norwegian powerhouse Team Ragde, which she says fits her better and is more enjoyable. “It suits me very well,” she says, adding with a smile that winning is fun, too.
The article also lists guests for the third season of Kallprat, with Nilsson’s episode dated 9 December. Other guests include Frida Karlsson, Linn Svahn, Sara Hector, Ella Halvarsson, Martin Ponsiluoma, and Edvin Anger.
Readers are invited to watch the full Kallprat episode on SVT Play.
