U.S. Biathlon names 16 athletes for World Cup and IBU Cup opening rounds

U.S. Biathlon has named 16 athletes to represent the United States at World Cup 1–2 and IBU Cup 1–2.

World Cup — Women - Chloe Levins (Rutland, Vermont/Mansfield Nordic Pro) - Margie Freed (Apple Valley, Minnesota/Craftsbury Green Racing Project) - Deedra Irwin (Pulaski, Wisconsin/Army World Class Athlete Program) - Lucinda Anderson (Golden Valley, Minnesota/Team Birkie)*

World Cup — Men - Campbell Wright (Wanaka, New Zealand/Waiorau Nordic Skiing) - Maxime Germain (Chamonix-Mont Blanc, France/National Guard Biathlon) - Sean Doherty (Conway, New Hampshire/Army World Class Athlete Program) - Paul Schommer (Appleton, Wisconsin/Team Birkie)

IBU Cup — Women - Joanne Reid (Grand Junction, Colorado/Colorado Biathlon Club)* - Grace Castonguay (Jackson, New Hampshire/Craftsbury Green Racing Project) - Kelsey Dickinson (Winthrop, Washington/Craftsbury Green Racing Project) - Lina Farra (Heber City, Utah/Unaffiliated)

*Note: Joanne Reid will open on the IBU Cup to earn the IBU qualifying points needed for World Cup eligibility. Lucinda Anderson, listed as World Cup 1–2 alternate, fills Reid’s World Cup spot until Reid meets the points requirement, at which time Anderson will race the IBU Cup and Reid will move to the World Cup squad.
