Swedish skier Edvin Anger secured a strong fifth place in the men’s 10 km classic during Stage 2 of the Tour de Ski in Toblach, Italy. Anger finished five seconds off fourth place and 29 seconds behind the winner, Norway’s Mattis Stenshagen, which left him 19 seconds shy of the podium.

Despite the encouraging result, Anger felt he still lacked top-end power. “I still can’t push into the red. It’s more like tractor diesel — it’s fast but I can’t find that last bit,” he said afterwards.

It was a tougher day for the other Swedes. William Poromaa crossed the line 1:04 behind Stenshagen, while 18-year-old Alvar Myhlback finished 1:51 back.

The race was the second stage of the Tour de Ski, part of the FIS Cross-Country World Cup series.
