Dramatic scenes unfolded during the men’s 10 km classic at the Tour de Ski when Slovenia’s Anže Gros collapsed on course and was later taken away by ambulance.

According to Viaplay, Gros lost consciousness during the race and was transported off the course by rescue sled. The incident happened after approximately eight kilometers. Viaplay analyst Johanna Ojala called the images “quite dramatic.”

Nejc Brodar, Slovenia’s assistant coach, offered reassuring news shortly afterward, saying Gros had been taken to the hospital for evaluation and was expected to be discharged within a few hours. “He should be okay,” Brodar said.

Later in the afternoon, Gros himself told Expressen that he was fine and that the situation looked worse than it was. He explained that he “dug a bit too deep,” suddenly lost feeling in his legs, collapsed, and couldn’t get back up. Doctors determined the cause was exhaustion, and he is expected to resume training soon.

The episode occurred during the Tour de Ski, one of cross‑country skiing’s premier stage events.
