Cross-country: Lucas Chanavat wins Davos sprint as Edvin Anger crashes at start

A men’s sprint final in Davos unfolded without Johannes Høsflot Klæbo, who was eliminated as early as the quarterfinals after losing time in a corner. In the absence of the Norwegian star, France’s Lucas Chanavat seized the opportunity and captured the victory.
Sweden’s Edvin Anger saw his hopes end at the very beginning of the final. He explained that his pole tip caught the start gate, and in the confusion he planted his right pole onto his right ski, bringing him to a dead stop. “I wanted more today,” Anger told SVT, adding that the pole was left “completely broken.” He finished last in the final.
Italy’s Federico Pellegrino finished a close second behind Chanavat, while Norway’s Oskar Opstad Vike claimed third place.
