Norwegian cross-country skiing star Emil Iversen was attacked by a German Shepherd while out on a training run in France. He was running a 5 km fitness test with fellow Norwegians Johannes Høsflot Klæbo, Niklas Dyrhaug and footballer Alexander Sørloth when the dog bit him.
Iversen said he had been on pace for a personal-best time when the attack occurred, forcing him to abandon the attempt. He received first aid and began a course of medication, but the wound was not deep and did not require stitches, he noted after a medical check.
The 32-year-old, a four-time world champion, plans to compete through one last season targeting the Milano–Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics. His world titles came at Seefeld 2019 and Oberstdorf 2021.
