Swedish ski star makes big call – leaves national team and moves back home to train

Swedish cross‑country skier Ebba Andersson, 28, has decided to leave the national team environment and relocate to her parents’ home in Sollefteå, northern Sweden, for her Olympic build‑up.
According to Andersson, the main reason is the chance to reunite full time with her coach and father, Per‑Ola Andersson. The father–daughter setup has worked well before: under his guidance she has collected six World Championship gold medals.
“Whenever I’ve been here chasing championships, I’ve performed my best. It would feel silly to change a working formula,” Andersson told SVT.
The 2022 Beijing Olympics were a major disappointment for her personally as she left without an individual medal, though she owns Olympic relay silver from PyeongChang 2018 and relay bronze from Beijing 2022.
Now Andersson is targeting her first individual Olympic medal—and Olympic gold—at the Milan–Cortina Winter Games, scheduled for 6–22 February 2026.
