Two falls and a ski off: Ebba Andersson's nightmare in the women's 4 x 7.5 km relay

A surreal, almost slapstick sequence unfolded Saturday in the women's 4 x 7.5 km cross‑country relay at the Milan‑Cortina 2026 Olympics. Sweden's second-leg skier Ebba Andersson fell twice. On the second, a spectacular wipeout, she broke her binding and could not put her right ski back on.
The mishap forced Andersson to continue for a few seconds on a single ski, holding the other under her arm. A member of the Swedish staff ran out to hand her a usable ski—only to fall as well. The sequence may look comical, but for Sweden it was far from funny.
The Scandinavian favorites found themselves well off the podium. Before the final leg they were in fourth place, behind Norway, Finland and Italy. Last‑leg skier Jonna Sundling will try to bring Sweden back onto the podium.
