Frida Karlsson is targeting a clear step forward after a disappointing weekend in Gällivare, where she placed 10th in the women’s 10 km freestyle—over a minute behind Sweden’s winner, Ebba Andersson.
The next test comes immediately at the World Cup opener in Ruka, Finland, with the same distance but in classic technique. Although her Olympic ticket is already secured, Karlsson stresses that she is not content simply qualifying. “I’m not happy with a secured place. I want to feel that my body responds,” she says, looking for stronger sensations and a sharper performance as the international season begins.
Karlsson’s comments underscore the high expectations within the Swedish camp heading into Ruka, where form in the classic 10 km will be an early indicator of readiness for the winter’s major goals.
