Frida Karlsson’s difficult build-up — got food poisoning: “Not perfect”

Swedish cross-country star Frida Karlsson says her preparation for the upcoming skiathlon has been far from ideal after suffering food poisoning this week.

“It hasn’t been a perfect build‑up,” Karlsson told Radiosporten on the eve of Saturday’s race.

The skiathlon takes place in Trondheim, Norway — the site where Ebba Andersson last won a world title in the event. Despite that, Andersson shifted the favorite tag to Karlsson, who is nonetheless dealing with the effects of her illness.
