Frida Karlsson on Tenerife training camp: “Many think I’m just lying on the beach”

Swedish cross-country star Frida Karlsson left the cold for a solo training camp in the sun on Tenerife ahead of the winter season.

She stresses it was not a holiday. “Many misunderstand it and think I’m lying on the beach with a drink in my hand, sunbathing,” she says in the SVT documentary series “Utan filter – längdlandslaget mot OS.”

Instead of preparing with the national team at home, she opted for warm-weather, high‑altitude training. “I think everyone chooses their own path,” Karlsson says, adding that the block in Spain is likely her most demanding month in terms of training load.

The World Cup opener is next Friday in Ruka, Finland. The series “Utan filter – längdlandslaget mot OS” premieres on SVT Play on Thursday, November 27, and airs on SVT1 at 22:30 the same evening.
