Sweden celebrated a dream start to the cross‑country World Cup season as Frida Karlsson won the opening race in Ruka, Finland.
In the women’s 10 km classic, Karlsson attacked from the start and managed to hold off Norway’s Heidi Weng in the chase. Sweden’s Moa Ilar secured third place, marking the fourth World Cup podium of her career.
“Fun to feel that everything clicks,” Karlsson said to Radiosporten after the finish, pleased with how her form translated immediately in the first race of the campaign.
The result delivered a double Swedish podium on opening day and set a positive tone for the team as the Ruka weekend continues.
