Norway’s Karoline Simpson‑Larsen took a surprise maiden World Cup victory in the women’s 10 km freestyle in Davos, Switzerland. In a field missing several Swedish stars, the 28‑year‑old, who is not part of Norway’s elite national‑team group, won by 2.1 seconds over Sweden’s Moa Ilar, with Astrid Øyre Slind completing the podium just 2.2 seconds back.

Germany’s Helen Hoffmann produced a career‑best performance. After briefly sitting third at the finish, she ultimately placed eighth at +27.4 seconds—her top World Cup result to date and her second consecutive top‑10 after ninth in Trondheim a week earlier. “I’m very satisfied with my race today. The 10 km individual skating is my absolute favorite discipline—especially nice that it’s on the Olympic program,” said the Oberhof native.

Germany’s Pia Fink also delivered a strong day in 10th at +40.7 seconds. Anna‑Maria Dietze was 36th, 1:55.7 behind Simpson‑Larsen.

The Davos weekend brought several positives for the German team. On Saturday, Laura Gimmler advanced to her first World Cup sprint final, finishing sixth, and on Friday Gimmler and Coletta Rydzek took fourth in the team sprint.
