Olympic champion Jessie Diggins announces retirement at season’s end

U.S. cross-country skiing Olympic champion Jessie Diggins has announced she will retire at the end of the season. In an emotional Instagram post accompanied by a childhood photo, the 34‑year‑old said it will be difficult to say goodbye to the sport and the team she loves, but she is excited to start a new chapter.
Diggins won Olympic gold in the team sprint at PyeongChang 2018 and has collected additional Olympic and World Championship medals across her career. She also captured the overall World Cup crystal globe in 2021, 2024 and 2025, underlining her consistent dominance on the circuit.
Despite the announcement, Diggins emphasized that she still has goals for the remainder of the season, writing, “We still have a fun year ahead of us!”
