Jessie Diggins plans to end her cross-country skiing career after next winter

U.S. cross-country skiing champion Jessie Diggins, 34, is expected to retire after the upcoming 2025–26 season.
The information was disclosed by International Ski Federation (FIS) race director Simon Caprini on the “Nouvelle Trace” podcast while discussing the World Cup calendar. Caprini said Diggins plans to end her career at the season-closing World Cup stop in her home country, at Lake Placid. Diggins herself has not yet confirmed the decision.
Diggins is one of the most successful women’s skiers of recent years, renowned for her competitiveness, especially in freestyle events. Over her career, she has won Olympic gold in the team sprint, world championships in the team sprint and the 10 km individual freestyle, and she owns a total of three Olympic and seven World Championship medals. She has also claimed the World Cup overall title three times and won the Tour de Ski twice. Diggins made her World Cup debut in the 2011–12 season.
