Sweden’s sprint queen Jonna Sundling has shaken up the cross‑country world with her feared hop‑skate technique.
In an SVT Sport segment, Sundling watches clips of her skiing and explains what she focuses on to execute the move. “I think of jumping forward like a frog,” she says, describing the powerful, bounding timing that helps her accelerate over short rises and through transitions.
SVT expert Anders Blomquist heaps praise on the method: “It’s a completely different speed when she skis that way,” he says, highlighting how the dynamic hop adds momentum compared with standard skating strokes.
Sundling will race the sprint in Gällivare on Friday, with live coverage on SVT.
