Jonna Sundling left out of Sweden's Tour de Ski team — full squad named

The Swedish cross‑country team has named its squad for the Tour de Ski. The announcement, published 18 December 2025, confirmed that Jonna Sundling is not included among the selected athletes.

Team leader Anders Byström noted that Sweden will bring 19 athletes to the Tour — "as many as we haven't had in many years" — and said the race series is an important part of the selection process for remaining Olympic spots.

Debutants

Alvar Myhlback, the 19‑year‑old prodigy, was already known to have a place in the team and will make his Tour debut. Lisa Eriksson, Anton Grahn and Jonas Eriksson will also be making their Tour de Ski debuts. Byström pointed out that many of the new athletes have earned World Cup starts this season thanks to strong performances in the Smart Energy Cup and the Scandinavian Cup — for example Lisa Eriksson won both distance races in Boden.

Race info

The Tour de Ski runs over six stages from Toblach to Val di Fiemme, Italy, from 28 December to 4 January. The overall winner is decided by the final climb up Alpe Cermis. Sweden's most recent Tour de Ski victory came two years ago, when Frida Karlsson won.

The Swedish team selection was released in a press statement on Thursday; no reason was given in that release for Jonna Sundling's omission. Byström emphasised that several Olympic places are still to be decided and that Tour de Ski results will factor into final selections.
