Jonna Sundling claimed the freestyle sprint in Davos after a dramatic photo finish. Despite leading the field throughout the day, she needed the camera to separate her from Norway’s up‑and‑comer Mathilde Myhrvold at the line.

Sundling set the tone early, winning qualification, her quarterfinal and semifinal, and then powered through the final—one day after winning the team sprint alongside Maja Dahlqvist. “I felt my body recovered well and decided to just go for it in the final since it was the last thing on my program today,” Sundling told SVT Sport. “I’m happy the margins were on my side in the end when it got very tight.”

In the final, Sundling attacked from the gun and hop-skated hard up the first climb, with only Myhrvold able to match the pace. On the second lap, Sundling opened a small gap on the same hill, but Myhrvold fought back and pushed her all the way to the line. The photo finish showed Sundling won by 0.08 seconds.

“I managed to hang on, and the last meters were really exciting. I’m happy with second place even if it’s a bit irritating to be so close,” said Myhrvold. Switzerland’s Nadine Fähndrich took third ahead of Sweden’s Maja Dahlqvist, who missed the podium and said the altitude made recovery difficult. Linn Svahn finished fifth. The final did not include Norway’s Kristine Stavås Skistad, who was disqualified in the semifinal.
