Johannes Høsflot Klæbo extended his dominance on home snow by winning the men’s 20 km skiathlon in Trondheim, a World Cup event combining classic and skate techniques. Fresh off his 100th World Cup victory in the sprint the day before and a six‑gold sweep at last season’s World Championships, Klæbo rode a tactically perfect race.

Always well positioned, the Norwegian waited for the final climb and then used the downhill into the stadium to slingshot past Harald Østberg Amundsen. He entered the finishing straight in front and celebrated well before the line to secure his third win of the season. Amundsen finished second at 0.7 seconds, with Emil Iversen third at 0.9 seconds.

Norway once again dominated en masse, filling nine of the top ten places. The first non‑Norwegian was Austria’s Mika Vermeulen in ninth, 4.9 seconds back. France’s Mathis Desloges took 11th at 6.7 seconds: strong in the classic leg and aggressive in the skate, he was still with the front group late but slipped back in the crowded final as the pace surged. Fellow French skiers Hugo Lapalus (17th), Jules Lapierre (18th) and Victor Lovera (20th) finished further down.

The result underscores Klæbo’s form in Trondheim, where he also reached the century mark of World Cup wins in the preceding sprint and where he swept six gold medals at the last World Championships.
