Finnish cross-country skiing star Krista Pärmäkoski will end her career after this season. The 36‑year‑old announced her decision on Instagram, timing it just a day before the World Cup opener in Ruka, Finland.

Pärmäkoski wrote that her journey has been filled with memorable moments, success, joy and laughter, but also setbacks, tears and disappointment. This winter will be her 18th and final World Cup season.

Across her career, Pärmäkoski has collected five Olympic medals (two silver and three bronze) and seven World Championship medals, establishing herself as one of Finland’s most decorated cross-country skiers of the past decade.
