Swedish cross‑country skiing star Linn Svahn has still not fully recovered from the concussion and neck injury she suffered in a fall during training at the Trondheim World Championships in February, Swedish broadcaster SVT reports.

Known primarily as a sprint specialist, Svahn missed the entire World Championships and the rest of last season. In May, reports indicated she had returned to light training, but through the summer her neck continued to flare up.

According to her coach Ola Rawald, most of Svahn’s training has consisted of cycling and some supervised roller‑skiing on a treadmill. Pole‑planting and high‑intensity ski workouts have been problematic because they aggravate her neck, and running has also caused symptoms. Recently, as her neck has improved, she has cautiously started running and roller‑skiing outdoors, but sport‑specific, high‑speed sessions are still on hold.

Svahn will join Sweden’s national team camp next week in Torsby, where she plans to ski in the indoor ski tunnel. “Snow is gentler than asphalt. She’ll try to train her upper body a bit more there. When she returns home, we’ll reassess,” Rawald said.

Doctors estimate Svahn could return to full training around the turn of August to September. With roughly half a year until the Milano‑Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, Rawald remains optimistic about her prospects if upper‑body training progresses soon. The 25‑year‑old has a history of injuries; she also missed the Beijing 2022 Olympics due to a shoulder problem.

The article references earlier coverage noting she had only been able to resume light activity in the spring following the concussion.
