Swedish cross‑country sprint ace Linn Svahn says she has finally moved past the traumatic end to last season. A fall in training just before the Trondheim World Championships gave her a concussion and a neck injury, ruling her out of the championships entirely.

The aftermath was severe. Svahn describes how, a few months ago, she could barely get out of bed. “At worst I slept three quarters of the day. I was vomiting and couldn’t do anything. I had cognitive difficulties. I wouldn’t have been able to have this conversation — I’d have had to ask, ‘what are we even talking about?’”

Recovery to full training fitness took about five months. Now the two‑time Sprint Cup winner is focused on the coming winter’s Olympic season, still seeking her first senior championship medal. Her wishes for the season are simple: to race often, to avoid crashes on the eve of major events, to stay injury‑free, and to arrive at the start of the season with energy rather than exhaustion.

The piece also references earlier reports detailing her inability to run or rollerski outdoors for a time and a gradual return to light training during the spring and summer.
