Swedish sprinter Marcus Grate suffered a heavy setback at the Cross‑Country World Cup in Ruka, Finland. Two years after clocking the fastest time in sprint qualifying on the same course, Grate was knocked out already in the qualification round.
Speaking to Radiosporten, an emotional Grate said, “I hate this. You feel like you should belong here, but right now you don’t,” adding that he is contemplating taking a break from the season to reset.
Despite the disappointment, Radiosporten expert and former World Champion Torgny Mogren expressed confidence that Grate can rebound, emphasizing that there is definitely a way back if he addresses the issues behind his current form.
