Mogren: “Weng is the only Norwegian threat to Sweden”

Radiosporten’s expert Torgny Mogren reacted to Sweden’s dominance at the World Cup opening weekend in Ruka, where Swedish athletes took 1st, 3rd and 4th places. The only racer to break up a potential Swedish sweep was Norway’s Heidi Weng.
According to Mogren, Weng is the lone Norwegian who currently poses a real threat to Sweden’s women this Olympic winter. “She has fought her way back and is clearly better this year,” Mogren said, pointing to her early‑season form as evidence that she can contend with Sweden’s leading skiers.
The assessment underscores Sweden’s strong start to the season and suggests a Sweden‑vs‑Weng storyline heading into the coming World Cup rounds and the Olympic build‑up.
