Myhlback not keen on the Olympic 50 km: “Not good enough”

Sweden’s Alvar Myhlback, who has been selected for the 2026 Winter Olympics, says he is not interested in entering the men’s 50 km race. Although he normally competes on the long‑distance (marathon) circuit, he feels the Olympic 50 km does not fit his current training.
“I don’t think I meet the standard. It would mean many minutes in a technique I haven’t prepared for,” the 19‑year‑old explains, adding that, paradoxically, sprint might align better with the way he trains for long races.
The short interview focuses on Myhlback’s event preferences heading into Milan–Cortina 2026 and indicates he will target disciplines other than the traditional 50 km. The item is part of Radiosporten’s Olympic coverage of Sweden’s cross‑country ski selections and plans.
