Alvar Myhlback stood out in the sprint qualification on the future Olympic tracks in Val di Fiemme, Italy. The 19-year-old showed good speed and form on the course that will be used at the Milano–Cortina 2026 Olympics.
His day took a turn in the quarterfinal, however, when one of his poles broke right at the start. Myhlback fought on and finished the heat but could not advance to the semifinal in the penultimate stage of the Tour de Ski. It was a bitter end after a promising qualifying ride.
Despite the disappointment, Myhlback took encouragement from his runs on the sprint circuit and said he leaves Val di Fiemme with positive feelings ahead of the Olympics. He expressed confidence that he can target a medal at Milano–Cortina 2026.
