Sweden’s 19‑year‑old cross‑country talent Alvar Myhlback has been selected for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan–Cortina, the Swedish Olympic Committee announced at a press conference. Myhlback opened the season with two World Cup weekends and reached the podium in a sprint, even though he has said his primary focus is the Ski Classics long‑distance circuit.
He is one of 15 names presented in this round of selections. In cross‑country, Sweden’s women’s quota is now full: Linn Svahn, Maja Dahlqvist, Moa Ilar, Johanna Hagström and Emma Ribom join previously announced Frida Karlsson, Ebba Andersson and Jonna Sundling. Earlier men’s selections include William Poromaa and Edvin Anger, and relay entries are also confirmed for both genders and the sprint relays.
New Olympic selections highlighted by the article include:
- Skicross: Sandra Näslund.
- Ski jumping: Frida Westman.
- Figure skating: Andreas Nordebäck.
- Biathlon: Anna Magnusson, Ella Halvarsson, Jesper Nelin, Viktor Brandt, Malte Stefansson.
- Cross‑country skiing: Linn Svahn, Maja Dahlqvist, Moa Ilar, Johanna Hagström, Emma Ribom, Anton Grahn, Alvar Myhlback.
Previously selected athletes and teams include stars across alpine skiing, curling, ice hockey, moguls, skicross and biathlon, as well as named cross‑country athletes and relay teams. The piece underscores that Sweden’s Olympic cross‑country roster on the women’s side is now complete ahead of Milan–Cortina 2026.
