Norwegian cross-country skier Julie Myhre (29) failed to advance from Friday’s classic sprint prologue at the FIS World Cup stop in Granåsen, Trondheim, finishing 35th and missing the top‑30 needed for the quarterfinals. The result is considered a blow to her chances of being selected for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan–Cortina, particularly because this weekend’s program replicates Olympic events and serves as a key selection reference for the Norwegian team.

NRK commentator Jann Post described the situation as “a bit of a crisis” for Myhre’s Olympic ambitions after the early exit. Of the Norwegian women’s team, nine of twelve advanced from the prologue; Hedda Bakkemo and Maiken Min Midtskogen were also eliminated. On the men’s side, all twelve Norwegian athletes progressed to the knock‑out rounds, with quarterfinals scheduled from 12:15 on Friday.

The Granåsen weekend includes three Olympic events: classic sprint, 20 km skiathlon, and 10 km freestyle. With Olympic selection pressure high, several Norwegian skiers need standout performances in Trondheim to strengthen their candidacies for Milan–Cortina 2026.
