Norwegian cross-country skier Mathilde Myhrvold has withdrawn from the Tour de Ski after dislocating her shoulder during Sunday’s sprint final on the opening day of the event.

According to national team doctor Ove Feragen, imaging at a local hospital confirmed the dislocation. The shoulder was reduced and is back in place, but the medical staff cannot yet provide a recovery timeline. With the Winter Olympics in Milan–Cortina 2026 beginning in 40 days, the injury puts Myhrvold’s candidacy at risk. She has not yet been named to Norway’s Olympic team but is considered a strong contender.

Myhrvold crashed on the final downhill of the sprint and bravely finished the race, crossing the line last, 1:20 behind teammate Kristine Stavås Skistad, who dominated the final. Skistad won comfortably ahead of Germany’s Coletta Rydzek and Sweden’s Maja Dahlqvist. National team coach Sjur Ole Svarstad said after the final that the 27‑year‑old Myhrvold was sent for further evaluation, which confirmed the injury.

The article also outlines the remaining Tour de Ski schedule: - 29 December: 10 km interval start (Toblach) - 31 December: 5 km mass‑start heats (Toblach) - 1 January: 20 km classic pursuit (Toblach) - 3 January: Classic sprint (Val di Fiemme) - 4 January: 10 km freestyle mass start (Val di Fiemme)

Norway’s current Olympic selections are listed as follows. Men: Harald Østberg Amundsen, Einar Hedegart, Johannes Høsflot Klæbo, Martin Løwstrøm Nyenget and Erik Valnes. Women: Kristine Stavås Skistad, Astrid Øyre Slind and Heidi Weng. That leaves three men’s and five women’s places still available, with Tour de Ski performances likely to influence the remaining picks.
