Norway punished for new rule breach
FIS has sanctioned Norway after a Norwegian waxing technician violated the rules in connection with the men’s relay. According to FIS the wax technician was in the tracks at a time when they were not allowed to be there.
The sanction means Norway loses one waxing-technician vest, and the Norwegian ski federation has accepted the decision. Finnish media report that the incident irritated several skiers, including Iivo Niskanen, and that Norway’s waxing team has been criticized previously during the Olympics.
The short notice from Radiosporten summarised the ruling and reactions; the Norwegian federation has not appealed and the penalty will stand.
