Norway extended its dominance on home snow at the Trondheim World Cup, sweeping the first seven positions in the men’s 10 km freestyle.
The unexpected winner was 24‑year‑old Einar Hedegart, better known until recently as a biathlon junior world champion (2023), who is only in his second World Cup season in cross‑country skiing. He edged compatriot Andreas Fjorden Ree by 0.4 seconds, while Martin Løwström Nyenget completed the all‑Norwegian podium at over ten seconds back.
A day after winning the skiathlon, overall star Johannes Høsflot Klæbo placed “only” seventh, the last of the Norwegian block at the front.
From a German perspective, Florian Notz delivered the top result in 14th place, 44.8 seconds behind, beating teammate Friedrich Moch, who finished 19th (+52.4). Lucas Bögl, returning after illness in Ruka and targeting a top‑30 as part of his Olympic push, struggled and ended up 65th with nearly two minutes’ deficit. Anian Sossau‑Daubermann placed 34th, and Janosch Brugger was 51st (+1:30), leaving both short of their own expectations.
The result underlines Norway’s current supremacy in men’s distance racing and adds another home‑snow highlight to the Trondheim weekend following Klæbo’s skiathlon win the day before.
