Finnish cross-country skier Remi Lindholm disclosed that his preparation for the upcoming season has been severely disrupted by back injuries.

According to Lindholm, the problems began in late May when an MRI revealed a stress fracture in his sacrum. That injury healed, but about a month ago he “broke the other side of [his] back,” leaving him unable to ski for the past month. He spoke during the Finnish Ski Association’s media day, where most teammates reported smooth Olympic-year preparations.

To maintain fitness, Lindholm has turned to alternative training: extensive cycling and double‑poling sessions. Even so, he acknowledged he is short on time to regain top form for the Milano–Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics. The Olympic cross‑country events begin on 7 February, with the men’s final event—the 50 km classic mass start—scheduled for 21 February.

Lindholm’s previous season ended on a high note with a 7th‑place finish in the 50 km at the 2025 World Championships in Trondheim. The international World Cup season is due to kick off in late November at Ruka, Finland.
