Norwegian site langrenn.com reports that American cross-country skiing star Jessie Diggins plans to retire after the upcoming season. According to FIS official Simon Caprini, who spoke on a podcast about the season’s schedule, the World Cup will conclude in Lake Placid, USA—and that race would be Diggins’ last of her career.
Caprini described the Lake Placid finale as “almost by chance, a bonus,” suggesting the calendar’s end in the United States aligns with Diggins’ farewell. However, Diggins has not personally confirmed the information.
Over her career, Diggins has amassed 63 World Cup podiums. She has won Olympic and World Championship golds in the team sprint, as well as an individual World Championship title in the 10 km freestyle. A long-time rival to Swedish and Norwegian stars, Diggins has been one of the most prominent figures in women’s cross-country skiing for years.
