The International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) has confirmed that sex verification testing will debut at the 2027 Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun.
According to FIS, the new policy will come into force in July 2026, with the first application at the Falun 2027 World Championships. After that, it will be introduced in the World Cup during the 2027/28 season.
FIS had first communicated in September that it would introduce sex verification testing, which some interpreted as taking effect immediately. The federation has now clarified the timeline, specifying that implementation will start with the championships in Falun before expanding to the World Cup the following season.
Falun 2027 is scheduled from 24 February to 7 March.
