Norway’s leading sprint specialist Kristine Stavås Skistad was disqualified in the Davos World Cup sprint after an incident in the semifinal.
On the final corner before the finishing straight, Skistad moved to the inside of Switzerland’s Nadine Fähndrich and clipped the Swiss skier’s skis. Skistad crossed the line second and appeared to have booked her place in the final. However, after review the jury ruled obstruction.
Because Skistad had a previous yellow card, the infraction escalated to a red card, leading to her disqualification. Fähndrich advanced to the final on time despite the contact.
“ It could be judged both ways, but she disrupts Fähndrich’s turn, which costs her speed onto the finish,” said Viaplay expert Niklas Dyrhaug in the broadcast analysis.
The incident added to a chaotic sprint day in Davos, with outcomes shaped by jury decisions and tight margins in the semifinals.
