The second stage of the Tour de Ski delivered an upset in Toblach, Italy, where Norway’s Mattis Stenshagen captured his first-ever World Cup victory in the men’s 10 km individual start classic. Stenshagen, who had never won on the World Cup before, topped overall World Cup leader Johannes Høsflot Klæbo, while fellow Norwegian Emil Iversen completed a clean sweep for Norway in third.

France’s best finisher was Théo Shely in 13th. The 26‑year‑old, who began the winter on the FESA Cup circuit (the second tier of international cross‑country), leveraged his leader’s status there to earn a Tour de Ski start and capitalized with a strong result. Teammates Hugo Lapalus and Jules Chappaz placed 16th and 20th, respectively.

The Tour de Ski continues on Wednesday with stage three: a 5 km mass start free.

In the women’s field, Astrid Øyre Slind won the 10 km interval-start classic after placing third in the same stage last year. Teresa Stadlober finished second and Kerttu Niskanen third, while Jessie Diggins moved into the overall Tour/World Cup leader’s bib. France’s Julie Pierrel was the top Frenchwoman in 48th, more than two minutes behind the winner.
