Cross-country: Stina Nilsson on her relationship with the media: “Super fed up with seeing headlines that aren’t true”
Originally published in SVT Sport on December 09, 2025
Swedish skier Stina Nilsson says she has often been wary of the media spotlight throughout her career, particularly during the period when she left cross-country skiing to become a biathlete. Speaking on SVT’s interview series Kallprat, the 32‑year‑old explains that she tried to steer clear of “failure headlines” and is “super fed up with seeing headlines that aren’t true.”
Nilsson is now in her third act, focusing on long-distance racing in Ski Classics. Her debut season could hardly have gone better: she won the Vasaloppet. She describes that triumph as the biggest achievement of her career so far, even more meaningful than her Olympic gold medal from PyeongChang, because of the powerful personal memories it created.
The segment highlights her evolving perspective on attention and success: medals sit in a cabinet, she says, but the lived experience of a race like Vasaloppet stays with you. SVT directs viewers to watch the full Kallprat episode on SVT Play and lists other guests for the current season.
