Good news: Sweden gets one more men’s cross-country Olympic quota spot

Sweden has received an extra men’s cross-country skiing quota spot for the 2026 Winter Olympics, the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) confirmed.
With the new allocation, Sweden will field a full men’s team of eight athletes at the Games, matching the women’s eight. Before this update, Sweden was guaranteed seven men’s spots and eight women’s spots in cross-country skiing.
Four men are already named to the Olympic team: William Poromaa, Edvin Anger, Alvar Myhlback, and Anton Grahn. That means three of the four sprint places are effectively occupied, while selection for the distance events remains more open and competitive among the remaining candidates.
The decision ensures broader Swedish representation across both sprint and distance disciplines at Milano–Cortina 2026.
