Sweden has selected its cross‑country skiing team for the Davos World Cup weekend, an event carrying extra significance because Olympic selection is at stake. National team manager Anders Byström said the competitions “will of course have a little extra nerves” as the Swedish Olympic Committee will present Olympic places next week.

Several major names will not compete in Davos. Olympic-qualified Ebba Andersson, Frida Karlsson and William Poromaa will sit out the weekend. Rising star Alvar Myhlback is also absent as he will race the Ski Classics season opener. In contrast, Marcus Grate returns to the squad and Elina Rönnlund will make her World Cup season debut.

Schedule in Davos: - Friday, 12 December: Team sprint (freestyle) - Saturday, 13 December: Sprint (freestyle) - Sunday, 14 December: 10 km freestyle, individual start

Byström noted Sweden’s strong memories from Davos in sprint events: last year Jonna Sundling won the individual sprint and Sundling with Emma Ribom won the team sprint, while Johan Häggström and Edvin Anger also reached the men’s team sprint podium.
