Sweden’s relay tactic: “Exactly the kind you want on that leg”

Sweden has announced its team for Sunday’s men’s cross‑country relay at the Olympics. Johan Häggström will open, Calle Halfvarsson — making his fourth Olympic Games — will ski the second leg, William Poromaa takes the third leg and Edvin Anger will anchor.

Head coach Lars Ljung is looking forward to seeing Halfvarsson race. “We know what he can do at his very best,” Ljung said, praising Halfvarsson’s experience and suitability for that particular leg.

Anger’s current form is a little uncertain, but Ljung believes the younger skier’s characteristics make him a natural choice to close the relay.

The article is a short team preview and coach comment ahead of the Olympic relay in Milano‑Cortina 2026.
